With the movie award season in full swing, stylists for actresses who are hitting the red carpet are on the hunt for the perfect paparazzi-ready dresses.
Then there are the rest of us. Those who have already found the perfect dress, but no Oscar invitation is in sight.
It's often said that if you find a fabulous piece of clothing that is perfect for you, you should buy it - even if you don't have anywhere to wear it at the moment. Kind of the sartorial equivalent of "if you build it, they will come."
But the last time I needed such a fancy dress was when Scott and I got married 10 years ago - and walking down the aisle in my ivory Calvin Klein gown seemed to be a more appropriate choice than emerald green sequins would have been.
This dress is still in stock - and on sale to boot. (I'll keep checking my mailbox for that invite.)
Have you ever splurged on a dress or other outfit, without any clue as to where you would wear it?
